Man charged in alleged sexual assault at Fergus business

A 47-year-old man from Waterloo is charged with sexual assault after an alleged incident at a business in Fergus this past spring.

A woman had reported to Wellington OPP that she had been sexually assaulted by a man she did not know while at a retail store on St David Street around 5:45 p.m. on April 30.

A week later, police released surveillance images of a suspect and asked the public for help identifying him.

Following further investigation, a Waterloo man is charged with one count of sexual assault contrary to the Criminal Code, police announced on Wednesday. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph court in relation to the charge on August 6.
