Crash that closed local roadway claims one life

A crash that occurred in Brant Township has caused one fatality.

At 6:04 a.m. on July 9 the South Bruce OPP responded alongside Bruce County Paramedic Services and the Walkerton Fire Department to a report of a serious collision involving a motorcycle and a deer. 

A 68-year-old from Brockton was taken to a local hospital by local EMS and was pronounced deceased.

Police will not be releasing the identity of the victim at the request of the family.

Sideroad 5 South in the Township of Brant was closed between Highway 9 and Bruce Road 2 but has since reopened.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash should contact police or Crime Stoppers.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
