Missing kayaker found dead

A kayaker that went missing north of Grand Bend last week has been found dead.

Huron County OPP say the body of a 57-year-old man from London was located near St. Joseph beach today.

The man's kayak was spotted unoccupied on July 3, around 9:40 p.m. near Sunview Avenue in the Municipality of Bluewater.

The nearly week-long search included members of the Canadian Coast Guard, Huron Area Search and Rescue, and local police.

In a social media post, OPP extended their condolences to the man's family, as well as their thanks to all that helped with the search.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
