Two people charged, a gun and nearly $20K in drugs seized

An investigation by Huron County OPP led to the seizure of a handgun and nearly $20,000 worth of methamphetamine, fentanyl, and cocaine.

Investigators launched the drug probe in March.

A suspect in London was identified as the case progressed. Officers with the OPP street crimes unit, the OPP emergency response team, and the London police emergency response team searched a home in the city on Tuesday. The raid turned up the illegal drugs, a .40 caliber handgun, ammunition, brass knuckles, and $1,470 in cash. The estimated value of the drugs seized is $18,790, police said.

Another $2,500 in unspecified property was also turned up during the search.

A man and woman, both aged 22, from London, were arrested. They have been charged with several weapon and drug-related offences including unauthorized possession of a restricted firearm, possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, unauthorized possession of brass knuckles, and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

Both of the accused have been remanded into custody with future court appearances scheduled.
