Southampton beach biting incident prompts Health Unit search

Grey Bruce Public Health is looking for the owner of a dog that bit a woman at Southampton Beach on Tuesday.

According to the Health Unit, the dog was a white, poodle-type and was on a leash walked by a woman with grey hair and a pink shirt.

Health Unit staff need to confirm the dog is not infected with rabies so the victim can avoid receiving post-exposure rabies treatment.

They ask that anyone with information on the owner contact Saugeen Shores Police at 519-832-2500 or Grey Bruce Public Health at 519-376-9420 ext. 1364.

Local police also asks that residents keep their pets off the beaches and under control unless signage specifies dog-friendly access.
