Vandals deface rainbow crosswalk at Owen Sound school

Police in Owen Sound are looking for two vandals who damaged a rainbow crosswalk at a local school.

Two people wearing dark clothing arrived at Saint Dominique Savio School on 23rd Street East shortly before 4:30 a.m. last Friday and used white spray paint to deface the colourful crosswalk, police said.

A damage estimate has not been provided.

The hateful incident came two days after a Pride banner was ripped down from an Owen Sound church. That theft took place in broad daylight and led to the arrest of a 41-year-old woman.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the vandalism at the school or who has information about it to call them at 519-376-1234 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-Tips (8477).
