Impaired driving charge laid after vehicle slams into house

A vehicle, driven by a suspected impaired driver, crashed into a home in Georgian Bluffs late Wednesday night.

Emergency crews were called to the collision on Sir Johns Crescent just before 11:50 p.m.

The homeowners were sitting in the front room of the two-storey house when the vehicle came through the wall, Grey Bruce OPP said.

No injuries were reported, although the driver was taken to hospital as a precaution.

Officers speaking with the driver allegedly detected the smell of alcohol.

A 48-year-old woman from Toronto was arrested. She is charged with two impaired driving offences and driving with an open container of liquor. She is scheduled to appear in Owen Sound court on August 8.

Police are reminding anyone who suspects a person may be driving while impaired to call 911.
