SFN Council candidate list released

Eight people are currently in the race to be named the next Chief of Saugeen First Nation, as candidates were nominated this week.

Current Chief Conrad Ritchie is among those nominated for the highest position, as are Lester Anoquot, Sonja George, Richard Jacobs, Audra Root, Clinton Root, Phillip Doran Ritchie and Dolly Pucan.

Fore the nine councillor positions, there is over 40 candidates nominated.

Those that aren't interested still have until Saturday afternoon to decline their nomination, or their names will appear on the ballot.

The election will be held on August 30 at the James Mason Memorial Culture and Recreation Centre.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
