Cyclist crashes into transport truck

No charges have been laid yet after a cyclist crashed into a transport truck in Owen Sound.

At 3:50 p.m. on July 18, the Owen Sound Police Service closed a section of 10th Street East between 2nd Avenue East and 3rd Avenue East as they investigated a crash involving a cyclist and a transport truck.

According to police, the truck was travelling east on 10th street through a green light when the cyclist rode into the intersection going north on 2nd Avenue East and they collided.

Police say they are trying to determine the actions of the cyclist when the crash occurred. The person riding the bike, a 35-year-old female, suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to Brightshores Health System by ambulance. 

Police continue to investigate this crash. Traffic was heavy at the time of the incident so police are asking anyone who witnessed the crash to contact Owen Sound Police Service or Crime Stoppers.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
