Owen Sound Police respond to hundreds of calls over short period

The Owen Sound Police Service has been extremely busy over the last number of days.

According to a release from OSPS, officers have responded to 317 calls between July 29 and August 2.

One of those calls included a break-in at a local cannabis shop. On August 2 at 3:20 a.m., officers responded to an alarm at a local east side cannabis store. Officers arrived on-scene within minutes and found that the front door had been smashed with a hammer and the business was entered.

The store manager was able to access the businesses video surveillance remotely from his home, which led to police getting a clear look at the suspects.

Investigators located two youths by the harbour not long after seeing the surveillance footage, and the two youths matched those seen on the footage, resulting in the youths being arrested.

The two youths had no prior police involvement so as a result, the pair had their parents contacted and received a diversion under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
