Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MP warns of rebate scam

Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MP Alex Ruff issued a warning to residents Tuesday about a potential scam.

The local Member of Parliament said his office was made aware of unsolicited calls being made to residents trying to sell energy rebates.

The callers allegedly claimed an affiliation with Ruff's office in an attempt to sell the fake rebates.

Ruff said his office will never call to sell energy rebates.

He also shared tips from Natural Resource Canada on how to spot these scams, including refusing any in-home inspection from a door-to-door salesperson and avoid giving out personal information, online, over the phone or in person.

A representative from Grey Bruce OPP said they have not heard any reports of this scam.
