Driver caught going 163 km/h also had alcohol in his system: Huron OPP

A 26-year-old will be without his driver's licence for a month after police stopped a vehicle in South Huron travelling more than 70 kilometres an hour over the posted speed limit.

According to Huron OPP, an officer clocked a vehicle on Dashwood Road Friday night doing 163 kilometres an hour in a 90 kilometre an hour zone. After stopping the vehicle, the driver was given a roadside sobriety test, which registered an "alert", police said.

A 26-year-old from Brinston is charged with stunt driving. His driver's licence has also been suspended for 30 days and the vehicle impounded for two weeks.

In a post to social media, police called the combination of speed and alcohol "dangerous" and reminded that traffic safety is everyone's responsibility.
