Police lay attempted murder charge

A Stratford native is facing an attempted murder charge following an investigation by police.

Huron County OPP launched an investigation on June 25 after responding to a dispute involving several individuals at a residence located in the Township of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh around 11:30 p.m. that night.

Officers determined that a victim had been assaulted with a weapon prior to police arriving on-scene.

OPP Constable Craig Soldan confirmed that the incident took place at a residence on McDonald Line. The victim received injuries, however they were treated at a local hospital and later released.

As a result, a 21-year-old Stratford resident is now facing an attempted murder charge alongside probation violations. The accused is being held in custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Goderich on August 20.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
