Exeter to get pedestrian crossover on Main Street

South Huron council has approved the installation of a crosswalk along Exeter's Main Street, which is still undergoing reconstruction.

With approval from the Ministry of Transportation, the town will install a Level 2, Type B pedestrian crossover just north of the Ausable River Bridge. As part of the reconstruction, crews will build a crosswalk that uses mounted crossover signs with a rectangle flashing beacon and pavement markings.

Main Street remains limited to one lane of traffic as crews continued storm and sanitary sewer work north of the Thames Road, as well as watermain work on the west side of Main Street. Workers are also placing the first layers of base asphalt on the east side of Main Street from the bridge to Thames Road.
