Police to canvass Meaford area where gunshots were reported

Grey Bruce OPP say they will increase patrols in the Victoria Village area of Meaford, after two reports of gun shots in the area.

The first instance was reported on August 27, around 12:30 p.m. Police say reports indicated that four to five gun shots were heard near Victoria Street.

On Wednesday, police responded to another weapon-related call, with several gun shots reportedly heard from a bush area near the Victoria Village area.

On both calls, Grey Bruce OPP says it set up containment of the area and the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Canine Unit assisted with the investigation. No suspects or evidence were located during the search.

The Grey Bruce Crime Unit are continuing to investigate. Police will be out on September 7 and 8, canvassing the neighbourhood for witnesses and video surveillance.

The OPP is asking anyone in the area to check their video surveillance systems, dash-cams or door-cams for footage on August 27 around 12:35 p.m. and September 4 around 1 p.m.

Anyone with information regarding this incident should contact the Grey Bruce OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
