Five charged in Collingwood fentanyl trafficking investigation

The Collingwood and Blue Mountains OPP have charged five people after executing a search warrant at a local residence Thursday morning.

Police said the investigation into trafficking of cocaine and fentanyl in the Collingwood area began this summer, and as a result, a search warrant was obtained for a residence on Katherine Street.

Around 3 a.m. the OPP, including the Canine and Tactics and Rescue Units, executed the warrant, arresting five people inside.

According to police, over 5.5 ounces of cocaine, 26 grams of fentanyl, 7 grams of psilocybin, a loaded handgun, three expandable batons and other evidence of drug trafficking was seized.

As a result, a 48-year-old man from Collingwood is facing a variety of trafficking and firearms charges.

Additionally, a 48-year-old man and women aged 44, 39 and 32 — all from Collingwood — face charges for possession for the purpose of trafficking.
