Emergency services from across Huron County came together earlier this week to help improve collective response skills with a simulated school bus accident.
The Mass Casualty Incident training exercise was held at the North Huron Fire Training Grounds in Blyth from Tuesday to Thursday.
This training exercise involved multiple first responder agencies, including Huron County OPP, local firefighters, and paramedics. Paramedic co-op students and other student volunteers from area high schools also participated in the training exercise by playing the role of casualties of the accident.
"Effective collaboration between first responder agencies is essential for supporting the residents of Huron County," said Jeff Horseman, Director of Emergency Services. "Full-scale exercises help our teams better serve and protect our community."
In a release, Huron County thanked the North Huron Fire Department for hosting the training, as well as the local youth volunteers who participated, and all first responder agencies for the work they do year-round to keep residents safe.
