Owen Sound man charged with careless driving, uttering threats

A dozen charges have been laid against an Owen Sound man after a crash east of Chesley Sunday night.

A Grey Bruce OPP officer clocked a motorcycle on Grey Bruce Line between Grey Road 25 and Concession 4 doing 129 kilometres an hour in the posted 80 kilometre an hour zone.

The officer did a u-turn in an effort to follow the motorcycle, which was found a short distance away laying on its side on the shoulder of the road. The driver was taken to hospital as a precaution, police said.

The crash kept the roadway closed for several hours while police probed the cause.

Investigators determined the driver was the same man accused of making threats against a person in Park Head in South Bruce Peninsula earlier in the day.

A 31-year-old Owen Sound man is charged with 12 offences including careless driving, driving while suspended, driving with no licence, uttering threats, and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

The man remained in custody pending a bail hearing, police said.
