UPDATE: Technical issues with Owen Sound-area 911 resolved

Problems that arose Monday with the Owen Sound-area 911 system have been corrected.

The trouble began around 6:30 a.m., with a technical issue that preventing calls from coming into the Owen Sound Communications Centre.

Police reported shortly after 6:30 p.m. Monday that Bell Canada, the service provider, had fixed the glitch.

"The Owen Sound Emergency Communications Centre has processed several test calls and confirms that our dispatchers are now actively answering all 911 lines," police said. "We would like to thank our dispatch partner agency that worked alongside our dispatchers today to ensure no call went unanswered."

No details were released about what caused the problem.
