Police reveal identity of victim and person charged in Stratford homicide

Stratford Police Service has revealed the identity of a homicide victim and her alleged killer.

On October 15 at 5 a.m., police and Perth County Paramedic Services arrived at a residence on Ontario Street in Stratford.

Inside the home, officers located a 35-year-old female who was unresponsive and suffering from a gunshot wound. The woman was taken to Stratford General Hospital, where she later died from her injury. The victim has been identified as Kassidy Ballantyne-Holmes.

Police arrested 41-year-old Keith Savile at the scene and subsequently charged him with second degree murder, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, unauthorized possession of a firearm and weapons trafficking and manufacturing.

Savile was remanded into custody with an upcoming bail hearing on October 17.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
