Owen Sound man charged with fleeing collision

A 46-year-old Owen Sound man is facing charges for failing to remain at a collision that occurred last week.

Around 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 8, a collision was reported involving two vehicles travelling westbound on 10th Street East. No injuries were reported.

Owen Sound Police say a Pontiac Vibe caused the collision by rear-ending a second vehicle before immediately fleeing from the area.

Later that day, thanks to a tip from the public, the involved Pontiac Vibe was located abandoned in an area corn field. It had significant damage to the front driver side corner.

Police say following an investigation, the driver of the vehicle at the time of the collision was identified and charged.

The man faces charges under the Highway Traffic Act for careless driving, failing to report a collision, and operating a vehicle on a highway without insurance.
