Alleged impaired driver crashes into police cruiser

A 19-year-old is facing impaired driving charges after crashing into a parked police cruiser northwest of Wiarton.

Grey Bruce OPP were called about a suspected impaired driver on Howdenvale Road in South Bruce Peninsula just before 10 p.m. on Saturday.

Officers found the vehicle, which did not stop when they attempted to pull it over.

A short time later the vehicle crashed into a police cruiser that was parked with its emergency lights and siren activated.

No one was hurt, but both vehicles were damaged.

A 19-year-old South Bruce Bruce Peninsula resident is charged with driving while impaired by alcohol and drugs, and driving with a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit of 80 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood.

The accused is scheduled to appear in Owen Sound court in relation to the charges on October 31.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
