Update: Nine candidates vie for vacant Kincardine council seat

The Clerk for the Municipality of Kincardine has certified nine candidates for the Municipality's vacant council seat.

The seat was declared vacant on September 11, after the passing of former Councillor Doug Kennedy.

Christina Bandomir, Christopher Bianco, Kevin Fournier, Melville Scott McPherson, Jason Munro, Carole Robertson, Chandra Shekhar Tripathi, Stellina Williams and Scott D. Wilson have put their names forward.

The nine candidates will now have an opportunity to present their case to council at a special meeting on November 6, starting at 5 p.m. After presentations, council will vote on who to appoint as its newest member, and that person will be sworn in shortly after.

The new Councillor’s first official meeting will be on November 13. Their term of office will run concurrently with the rest of councils, ending when the new crop is sworn in after the 2026 Municipal and School Board Election.
