High levels of air pollution are possible this afternoon.

An AIR QUALITY WARNING is in place due to the possibility of deteriorating air quality. Hot and sunny conditions are expected to cause increasing ground-level ozone concentrations this afternoon. Moderate risk AQHI values are expected throughout the day with the potential of short-term high risk AQHI values in the afternoon.

When air pollution levels are high, everyone should limit time outdoors. Consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events.

You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough. If you think you are having a medical emergency, seek immediate medical assistance.

People more likely to be impacted by outdoor air pollution, including people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, infants and young children, people with an existing illness or chronic health condition, and people who work outdoors, should reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms.

A North Bruce Peninsula woman was arrested in connection to an assault on a four-month-old baby this week.Hanover police said the incident happened early Wednesday morning.The baby was taken to Hanover and District Hospital before being flown to a London hospital by air ambulance in serious but stable condition.The baby has been released in to the custody of Children's Aid Society. They are expected to make a full recovery.A search warrant was also executed by police in connection to the case at a motel room Wednesday evening.The 23-year-old woman is charged with assault causing bodily harm and failing to provide the necessities of life.She has been released on conditions to attend court in Walkerton.Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 519-364-2411.
