High levels of air pollution are possible this afternoon.

An AIR QUALITY WARNING is in place due to the possibility of deteriorating air quality. Hot and sunny conditions are expected to cause increasing ground-level ozone concentrations this afternoon. Moderate risk AQHI values are expected throughout the day with the potential of short-term high risk AQHI values in the afternoon.

When air pollution levels are high, everyone should limit time outdoors. Consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events.

You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough. If you think you are having a medical emergency, seek immediate medical assistance.

People more likely to be impacted by outdoor air pollution, including people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, infants and young children, people with an existing illness or chronic health condition, and people who work outdoors, should reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms.

The West Coast Blues Festival in Goderich announced this week that it won’t be continuing, ending a run of 19 years.The annual festival celebrated local blues artists, running across Labour Day weekend. West Coast Blues Festival first started in 2006.The most recent edition coincided with the newly launched Goderich Salt and Harvest festival.In a statement President John Harrison thanked the dedicated volunteers, great musicians, sponsors and ticket buyers who faithfully supported the annual festival.Harrison also gave special thanks to current and past committee members, who he said were the backbone of their success.
