Teen charged after 'hate-motivated' altercation on school bus

South Bruce OPP have charged a teen for allegedly assaulting another youth with a weapon on a school bus.

Police responded to a report of an altercation on a bus in Arran-Elderslie on November 20 around 4:45 p.m.

According to OPP, witnesses said the accused brandished an edged weapon and used racial slurs towards the victim.

As a result of the investigation, police arrested and charged a 17-year-old with assault, assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon, uttering threats, intimidation and public incitement of hatred.

The suspect's identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
