Stratford man wins $350,000 on Instant Spin

A Stratford man will have a happy holiday after winning $350,000 on OLG's Big Instant Spin Game.

Mervin Bennett, 76, purchased the winning ticket at Stratford Variety on Downie Street.

Bennett, a factory worker, says he has been playing the lottery with OLG for decades and has big once before. In the 1980s, he won a second prize with LOTTO 6/49.

"I had just finished a round of golf when I stopped at the corner store and picked up two tickets," Bennett said. "I called my son first to share the good news. He was at work and missed my calls. When we did connect, all he could say was 'You’re kidding, right?'"

He visited the OLG Prize Centre recently to spin the Big Spin Wheel, which has a guaranteed prize of $100,000 to $500,000.

"Just $100,000 would have been great, but winning $350,000 is unbelievable," said Bennett. "It’s time to upgrade to a new vehicle. I also have a big extended family, and I look forward to treating them to a fancy Christmas dinner out. This win will also make my 77th birthday in February one to remember."
