Update: One person dead after Hwy. 9 collision

The Wellington County OPP is investigating a fatal three-vehicle collision that occurred early Monday morning on Highway 9, just south of Clifford.

Emergency services were called to the scene around 7:25 a.m. on December 2, where two SUVs and a tractor-trailer were involved in the crash. Tragically, a 52-year-old driver from Etobicoke was pronounced dead at the scene.

The highway was closed for several hours while the OPP’s Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (T.I.M.E.) team conducted their investigation. The Office of the Chief Coroner also attended the scene.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation, and police are urging anyone with information to come forward by calling 1-888-310-1122.

Highway 9 has since reopened to traffic.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
