Cold, snowy December forecast for Midwestern Ontario

December is expected to bring cold and wintery to Midwestern Ontario.

According to Environment and Climate Change Canada's monthly weather report, temperatures may be slightly cooler in southern regions of the province, with low probabilities of above-average warmth in the north, particularly near Hudson Bay.

Precipitation levels are expected to remain near-normal, while seasonal ice formation in the Great Lakes, which started slowly in November, is expected to pick up as temperatures drop further. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said a lack of ice coverage on the Great Lakes can lead to more lake effect snow, causing snowfalls to become larger and more treacherous.
