Update: Two-vehicle crash shuts down Highway 6 north of Hepworth

A crash involving two vehicles closed a main route between Wiarton and Hepworth on Tuesday.

Emergency crews were called to the collision on Highway 6 at Shepard Lake Road in South Bruce Penunsula just before 9 a.m. on Tuesday. Grey Bruce OPP blocked off the highway between North Diagonal Road and Spring Creek Road while investigators were on scene.

According to police, four people were injured and taken to hospital. One had to be airlifted to a trauma centre with non-life threatening injuries.

"As a result of the investigation an 85-year-old from New Hamburg was charged with careless driving," police said.

Highway 6 has since re-opened.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
