Two charged in $35K fentanyl bust by Stratford police

A drug trafficking probe netted Stratford police over $35,000 worth of fentanyl and left two people facing charges.

According to police, Stratford officers, with the help of the Woodstock police drugs and intelligence unit, were able to wrap up the undercover investigation late last week. The investigation culminated last Thursday afternoon when officers arrested two men in Woodstock.

Roughly 189 grams of fentanyl with an estimated street value of more than $35,000 was seized, police said.

A 20-year-old Stoney Creek man and a 24-year-old Hamilton man are charged with trafficking a schedule 1 substance.

The 20-year-old faces additional charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking and resisting arrest. He remains in police custody, while the 24-year-old has been released on an undertaking.

"This collaborative effort highlights our commitment to fighting the opioid crisis and we extend our thanks to the Woodstock Police for their assistance," police said in a statement.
