Bruce County introduces digital load permits

A new digital service is making it easier for Bruce County residents and businesses to apply for over-dimensional load permits.

Now applications can be submitted and managed online using Permit Central, a platform powered by Transnomis.

An over-dimensional load permit is required for vehicles and loads exceeding the limits set out in the Highway Traffic Act when traveling on Bruce County roads.

The Bruce County Transportation & Environmental Services Department says the new system streamlines the process, cutting down on time and costs for both applicants and the department. Features include access to uploaded documents, status updates, and a log of changes and communications, all in one place.

Permit Central is also integrated with Municipal 511, allowing applicants to view road closures, construction, and truck routes as they plan their travel. This ensures routes can be adjusted for any potential conflicts.

For more information or to create an account, visit the Transportation Permits and By-laws webpage on the Bruce County website.
