Mildmay will hold a special hockey celebration of a historic team from the town's history.
On Saturday, December 14 at the Mildmay-Carrick Community Centre, the Walkerton Capitals will host the Wingham Ironmen for a PJHL matchup honouring the Mildmay Monarchs.
The Monarchs captured numerous local and provincial titles in the 1940s and 50s, including the W.O.A.A.Intermediate "C" Championship in 1952-53. In 1957, the Mildmay Little Monarchs captured their 3rd successive Ontario Minor Hockey Association championship, among other titles that will be remembered and celebrated.
The game between Walkerton and Wingham will get going at 5 p.m., followed by socializing, dinner and entertainment in the community centre following the on-ice competition. There will be a Monarchs quiz that will enable fans to win prizes, as well.
