Charity hockey game helps out local food bank and toy drive

A tightly contested charity hockey game between local cops and firefighters was well attended and raised money for a good cause.

On December 13, the Grey Bruce OPP took on the South Bruce Peninsula Fire Department in a charity hockey game at the Wiarton Arena.

The game was a great back-and-forth contest and was tied up at 5 apiece in the final minute, when the police officers put together a late play to score the winner with just 4 seconds left for a 6-5 OPP win.

The main winner, though, was the Wiarton Salvation Army Food Bank and South Bruce Peninsula Toy Drive. $322 was raised for the toy drive alongside numerous non-perishable food donations to the food bank.
