OPP shares Festive RIDE campaign numbers so far

The OPP have shared the numbers so far from the annual Festive RIDE campaign, with numerous charges laid already.

The Festive RIDE (or Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) campaign is an annual police enforcement and education initiative aimed at taking impaired drivers off Ontario roads during the holiday season.

So far, as of December 12, the OPP have laid 148 impaired driving charges and 10 warn-range suspensions through 883 RIDE check events across 13 West Region detachments. That's compared to 140 impaired driving charges and 21 warn-range suspensions after 1,033 RIDE check events over the same period last year.

This year's OPP Festive RIDE Campaign runs from November 21, 2024, to January 1, 2025.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
