One person in custody following Hanover homicide

One person is dead and another is in custody as police launched a homicide investigation in Hanover Tuesday morning.

According to South Bruce OPP, Hanover Police Service responded to an incident at an address on Fifth Street around 9 a.m. Officers found one person deceased at the scene.

Following the initial investigation, a vehicle of interest was observed in the Owen Sound area.

Shortly after, one person was taken into custody by the Owen Sound Police Service.

Police say there is no threat to public safety. However, residents should expect to see an increased police presence in the area of Fifth Street in Hanover, as the investigation remains in the early stages.

The South Bruce OPP Crime Unit is assisting with the investigation, as is the OPP Forensic Identification Services, the Office of the Chief Coroner and Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.
