Bruce Power, in collaboration with its supplier partners, employees, and community members, has donated $320,000 to holiday programs across Bruce, Grey, and Huron counties.
The funds aim to brighten the season for families and provide much-needed support to local organizations.
A total of $55,000 was raised for 19 local toy drives and hamper programs, while 38 area food banks each received $2,000 to assist with rising demand. Soup kitchens in Chesley, Hanover, Owen Sound and Walkerton were given $20,000 to help feed community members in need, and over $50,000 was directed to regional homeless shelters to support their outreach programs.
Bruce Power also provided hundreds of $25 grocery store gift cards to families through local schools, women's shelters, and Indigenous communities to alleviate holiday financial pressures.
Bruce Grey Child and Family Services, Huron-Perth Children’s Aid, Saugeen First Nation and Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation each received $10,000 in new warm winter clothing to distribute to families in need.
“This his has been a very difficult year for so many families in Bruce, Grey and Huron,” said John Peevers, Bruce Power’s Director of Community and Media Relations, and Economic Development. “Although we are proud of the work that we do throughout the year, we recognize the need is even greater during the holiday season. We are very thankful for our community, our dedicated employees, and our Supplier Partners for stepping up to help families across Bruce, Grey and Huron counties feel the season’s cheer.”
These efforts reflect a strong commitment to supporting local communities and addressing pressing needs during the holiday season.
