Two charged with negligence in death of infant

Two people are facing charges in a tragic infant death that took place on Saugeen First Nation almost two years ago.

On March 26, 2023, the Grey Bruce OPP, Bruce County Paramedic Services and the Saugeen Fire Department, responded to a call concerning an unresponsive infant at a residence on Scotch Settlement Road.

The nine-month-old infant was transported to hospital and pronounced dead.

As a result of an investigation in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service, police have charged a 33-year-old of Saugeen Shores and a 28-year-old of Saugeen First Nation with criminal negligence causing death.

Both accused have been held in custody pending a bail hearing in Walkerton.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
