Truck thief caught fleeing from police in Goderich

A Mississauga teen is facing charges after attempting to steal a truck in the Town of Goderich over the weekend.

The Huron County OPP said it received a report around 6:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 4, that a 2024 Toyota Tundra pickup had just been stolen from a laneway on South Street.

According to OPP, officers observed the stolen truck travelling eastbound on Huron Road and deployed tire deflation devices, deflating the front tires of the truck.

The 19-year-old driver was then arrested without incident and charged with theft over $5,000, flight from a peace officer, failing to stop for a stop sign and driving without a licence.

The accused was held in custody for a court appearance in Goderich, where they were remanded into custody.
