Hanover Police Service recovered weapons, cash, and a quantity of drugs after a traffic stop in town Tuesday morning, leading to trafficking charges for a man and woman.
According to HPS, officers attempted to stop a Honda CRV around 3:30 a.m. that morning. The driver initially refused to stop and attempted to flee before abruptly pulling over at the intersection of 10th Street and 5th Avenue.
Both the 37-year-old male driver and the 40-year-old female passenger were arrested after investigation. According to police, a search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of a quantity of methamphetamine and fentanyl, Canadian currency, a stun gun, a collapsible baton, knives, and break-and-enter tools.
Both suspects were jointly charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon, and possession of break-in instruments, among others.
The man also faces charges of impaired driving, flight from a peace officer, and failure to stop for police.
The two remain in custody and are scheduled to appear in court Thursday to answer to their charges.
