Snowmobile rider sustains life-threatening injuries in crash

Perth County OPP say a crash involving a snowmobile resulted in life-threatening injuries for the lone rider.

On January 16, Perth County OPP officers responded alongside Perth County EMS and Perth East Fire Department to a reported crash on the OFSC trail near Road 145 in Perth East.

The crash involved one snowmobile, and the lone rider was ejected from the vehicle after hitting an obstruction, police said.

The 59-year-old male driver sustained life-threatening injuries and was rushed to hospital.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation by members of the Perth County OPP.

Police are reminding all users of motorized snow vehicles to always be aware of your surroundings, check the OFSC trail conditions, and have proper safety equipment prior to heading out on the trails.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
