OPP warns of scam texts claiming to be from Ministry of Transportation

Perth County OPP are warning residents to be wary of a recently reported text scam.

According to police, many reports have come in recently about a text scam, in which the sender claims to be from the Ministry of Transportation.

Police are stressing these are not legitimate government messages. Members of the public are reminded to not open any links from unsolicited text messages or pop-ups as they are likely phishing scams designed to obtain your personal information for fraudulent activities.

If you see any suspicious activity like this, report it to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre online or by calling 1-888-495-8501.
