Arran-Elderslie man charged after vehicle fails to stop for police

South Bruce OPP allege a driver who sped away from officers over the weekend wasn't even supposed to be behind the wheel.

OPP were patrolling along Concession 4 Arran just before 1:30 a.m. on Sunday when officers stopped to check a vehicle. It was at that point, the vehicle took off from police.

Officers later found the subject vehicle and were able to identify the driver.

A 50-year-old man from the Municipality of Arran-Elderslie is charged with flight from police, and driving while under suspension. He is scheduled to appear in Walkerton court on March 5 in relation to the charges.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
