Brussels snowmobiler charged with sexual interference, impaired driving

A tip about a suspected impaired snowmobiler helped Perth OPP uncover the sexual assault of a young person.

Police were called about the possible impaired driver on a snowmobile on the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (OFSC) trail near Newry Road in North Perth on Sunday. While investigating the complaint, additional information was received that the same person had sexually assaulted the youth, police said.

A 31-year-old from Brussels was arrested and charged with sexual interference, dangerous driving, and two impaired driving offences. The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in Stratford court in relation to the charges on February 24.

Police did not release the age of the alleged victim.
