Fincher's closing Goderich location after nearly 70 years

One of Goderich's oldest small businesses is closing.

Fincher’s, which first opened in 1956, is officially shutting down at the end of the year.

In a statement, the store's owners Dawn and Tom Fincher explained they plan on retiring.

"This is not a decision we have made lightly as Fincher's has been at the centre of our lives for so long. We have been privileged to be part of your milestones, traditions, and everyday moments, and for that, we are profoundly grateful," read their statement.

Fincher's other location in Kincardine will also be closing, however, its last day will be on August 31, 2025. This location first opened in 1978.

The Fincher's explained they're waiting months to give their staff and customers time to adjust.

"As we begin this farewell, we invite you to visit us in the coming months not only to shop but to share memories, exchange stories, and allow us the opportunity to personally express our appreciation," added the Fincher's statement.
