SIU probing crash involving police vehicle, plow

Ontario's police watchdog is investigating a Family Day crash involving a police cruiser and a snow plow north of Wingham.

At around 1:20 p.m. Monday, an officer with Huron County OPP was assisting a motorist on London Road near Glennanon Road when a plow vehicle collided with the police vehicle as well as a stopped motorized snow vehicle.

Two people were taken to hospital, the officer was not hurt.

London Road north of Wingham was closed for several hours while the OPP West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) Team investigated.

The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) was notified and has since invoked its mandate.

The SIU is an independent government agency that investigates the conduct of officials that may have resulted in death, serious injury, sexual assault and/or the discharge of a firearm at a person.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
