Saugeen Shores Council has given the green light to an Amending Agreement that will allow construction of Cedar Crescent Village (CCV) at Port Elgin Main Beach to continue.
The agreement, approved during a council meeting on February 24, extends building permit deadlines by approximately ten months and establishes a total completion date of September 14, 2026. Additionally, council approved Libro Credit Union as the leasehold mortgagee for the project.
Mayor Luke Charbonneau expressed his enthusiasm about the project, highlighting its importance in creating a vibrant and welcoming waterfront for both residents and visitors.
"I am excited to see new enhancements and services at our waterfront contributing to a vibrant, welcoming and accessible experience for residents and visitors alike," said Charbonneau. "The construction of Cedar Crescent Village will add further offerings to our waterfront in Port Elgin, supporting our community’s growth, development and vision for the future."
The Cedar Crescent Village development follows extensive public consultation and aligns with the Town’s Waterfront Master Plan. The two-building facility will include a restaurant, washrooms, an ice cream store, a gamespace, and a market area.
The surrounding space will be designed to improve pedestrian movement, land use, transportation, and parking efficiency.
