Sexual assault charges laid following assault involving a minor

Perth County OPP have laid sexual assault charges against a resident of Perth East following an investigation.

On February 24, members of the OPP launched an investigation after receiving information regarding an alleged sexual misconduct in the Town of Sebringville.

Police were told the incidents occurred over the span of a month.

Following the investigation, police have arrested and charged a 62-year-old with sexual assault on a person under 16 years of age, sexual interference and luring a person under 16 years of age.

The accused was held for bail and appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on February 26.

A publication ban has been issued in this case, therefore, no further information will be released to protect the identity of the victim and to comply with the order.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
