OPP investigate fatal multi-vehicle collision in Mapleton

A Wellington County resident has died as a result of the multi-vehicle collision on Wellington Road 12 in Mapleton Township.

On March 6, 2025, at approximately 11:30 a.m., members of the Wellington County OPP, alongside local emergency services, were called to a multi-vehicle collision on Wellington Road 12 between Wellington Road 45 and Wellington Road 86.

As a result of the collision, a 34-year-old from Mapleton Township was pronounced deceased at the scene. No other injuries were reported. The identity of the deceased individual will not be released out of respect for the family's privacy.

The OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) team and the West Region OPP Traffic Collision Investigation (TCI) Team and Reconstruction are assisting Wellington OPP with the investigation. While on the scene, it was discovered that there were three separate collisions on the same roadway, totaling eight motor vehicles involved.

As a result of the collision and poor weather conditions, Wellington Road 12 has been closed from Wellington Road 86 to Wellington Road 8.
