Huron-Kinloss covers cost of winter damage to Lucknow Library

The Township of Huron-Kinloss will spend five figures repairing damage caused by falling ice and snow.

Council received a report this week from the Director of Community Services on winter damage sustained by the Lucknow Library and Town Hall Theatre.

On February 24, ice and snow fell of the roof on the east and south sides removing the eavestroughs and fascia. The falling debris damaged the air conditioner on the south side of building and the fire exit landing and stairs located on the east side.

For now, the accessible ramp has been closed for safety. Staff estimate the cost of the repairs will be between $10,000 and $15,000, which they say doesn’t justify making an insurance claim.

The repairs will be funded through the general budget.
